Brett King, LPC, MFTC
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a helper. Because we all need a little help sometimes. Even as a teenager, my heart was happiest when I could help someone learn to read. Or swim. Or ride a bike. Or anything else that helped someone grow and learn and heal. That joy took me on a professional journey into education. Then counseling.
When I was a classroom teacher and school leader working with children and teenagers, I discovered that families matter. Parents matter. The quality of relationships with those closest to us often determine the quality of our lives. When those relationships aren't working quite as we had wanted, we can lose hope.
As a dad and husband, I get that. The journey to become a fully engaged father and to be fully engaged in loving relationships was not always easy. But it was possible. With a little determination and a generous helping of wise, compassionate guidance, I am more of the person that those closest to me deserve and desire.
That’s why I became a marriage and family therapist. Because we all need a little help sometimes. Help to experience what we had hoped but what may have been lost. Or broken. Or yet to be discovered.
It’s in that spirit that I seek to offer compassionate, competent, and confidential support tailored to your needs.
